NC30 Engine build, AKA Project viva Espana

Post by Drunkn Munky »

This isnt so much of a rebuild, more of a case of cobbling an engine back together that had an overheating issue. The main reason for this is so i have a reliable motor for the coming spain trip so im looking for as much input from you guys as possible to get this finished asap and some testing miles on it.

This is where its at currently

first off does anyone think its worth stripping the motor further to ensure theres a good motor there?

Plan is,

Give it a good degrease
Fit RVF pick ups for use with the RVF loom
Clean up the piston crowns
Lap the valves in
Do the shims

Feel free to jump in with any advice/pointers.

DM do you have the gear selector cover off the 35? the 35 one has a needle bearing and i found this much smoother than the 30 for gear changes.

Parts 2 and 3 inclusive

What are the valves and valve seals like?

Jeff, interesting idea, i do have my 35 engine that i could use the parts from, i dont mind robing small parts off it.

Mark, not sure i want ported heads its gota get to spain and back with decent fuel consumption  I havent looked at my heads yet, wanted to get the bottom end out the way first.

Then put the spanner down and walk away from the motor! It always goes into overdrive, i dont know why, i pull a part off and the next thing you know the crank is being lightened!
