won't start

Hi chaps im new here, hope someone can help me ive got a 400 bandit v model bought as a non runner if i pull the bike behind the car for about 40 meters its starts no problem wants its hot i can turn it off and it will start up again no problem. if i leave it to cool down say about 4 hours it absolutley will not start again even if i quick start in the air box not even a hint of wanting to fire ive changed the cdi box the pick up and moved the pick up closer to the trigger in my thoughs are that its firing at the wrong time i also changed the trigger wheel but this was from a not v model which is even more retarded than the original trigger. is there 2 different trigger wheels for the v model im now at wits end with this bike any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi Colin,
Is the VVC a early or late type? Things i'd check are the plugs, are they cr8 or 9 as they dont start well on the 9's, check the pilot screws are 1.5 turns out and when you have the bike running can you hear the vvc kick in at 10000rpm as if this is staying set to high it will not run well at the bottom. If all these things are good you can take a look at the carbs.

Hello Mate thanks for the reply plugs are cr8ek all four burning good colour carbs have been done all orings replaced emulsion tubes and needles are good new float needles pilot screws 1.5 out i think i can rule out carbs as it should fire with quick start in the air box. the model is gsx400vp not sure as to what year this might be. I will try and listen for the valve clicking as you suggest will keep you posted
