shift light adjustment.
HI. JUst wondering if anyone knows if the shift light is adjustable? Sure its normal but mine comes up way too early for me.
I am guessing its just run off the cable.
Or maybe I will just disconnect it.

Yeah sorry didn't explain it very well. It's the red speed light that comes up at about 40-50mph.
It's worse in the dark as its so bright. Just wondering what my options are.
Oh if It's any help its a nc23 import.

Developed mostly for younger Japanese riders, the 400 cc engine still has enough power to drive the bike up to a speed-limited 180km/h (112mph). It is possible to de-restrict this bike by re-wiring the speedometer head, as the speed-limiter is a simple design based solely on the position of the needle of the speedometer. Aftermarket electronic parts can also be fitted that achieve de-restriction. The same effect can be achieved by fitting a mechanical converter on the speedometer cable that converts the Japanese spec km/h speedometer to mph; the bike is not powerful enough to accelerate to 180 mph (290 km/h), and thus the needle will never reach the position at which the ignition restrictor begins operation. De-restricted, the CBR400RR will reach a top speed of around 225 km/h (140 mph).
Sound like you restrictor kicking in on the rev limiter

Hi,
the speed light is triggered off the same disk in the speedo that controls the top speed restriction. you can change when it comes on by snipping away at the disk with a pair of scissors or completely cut off the sensor so the light doesnt come on at all and the top speed restrictor doesnt cut in. you will need to take the speedo apart to do this.
or just tape over it with electrical tape, or probably remove it altogether.

did mine with an aftermarket electronic plug in jobbie as I didnt want to take the speedo to bits , regularly pop up on ebay though if you look and have some spare cash , failing that there are mechanical converters that will do the same thing available from people like Elliot Motorcycles or David Silver spares if I remember correctly ...not that any of us would think of breaking the speed limit

Ah! Well I wasn't expecting that answer! I found the bike goes really well but I did run out of puff I guess.
Thanks for the help! When I take the speedo apart is it easy to locate the wires restricting it? Or is there a 'how to' anywhere for me to use?
I will also look at add on's on ebay.

Strange, the red light still comes on on my Triarm despite having a gold label CDI . Also I noticed a slight drop off in power when I changed from blue to gold however I did swap engines at the same time so possibly the replacement engine isn't as powerful as the first (although the first was very low on compression...?)
Is that red light just off a switch independent to the CDI? It comes in at about 90mph I thought, I also have one of those mechanical speedo converters just to add another dimension of confusion....
