I use these and they're pretty darned good.
I've never experienced the so-called damping issues other poeple report when using this type of gauge

Cheers guys
Gonzo, did your erratic tick over get sorted after the plug change?
Mine is sort of doing the same, and i have a feeling it is teh plugs, after i had some other starting issues and flodded it a few times. I have a feeling one or more of teh plugs is on its way out.
I reckon it's time to change them and see. cheaper than getting a carb balancer and finding i need plugs to sort the problem

I haven't changed the plugs yet, the intake rubbers were dodgy (old and cracked).
Still waiting to install the NC35 carbs, will be done this week-end.

The white nylon damper valve can be adjusted to give a steady reading.
For some reason mine go out of calibration between each use.
Now I always check and calibrate if needed.
Connect each gauge in turn to number 3 cylinder and adjust dial so each gauge reads the same.
Dave.

i also use carbtune, which ever one you get try and invest in a 90 degree angled screwdriver for easier access to the tuning screws underneth.

Cheers for the advice guys, much appreciated. VariableValvessuck, has very kindly offerd to lend me his
I will get the carbs set as best i can, and as it's going on teh dyno at the end of next month, i will get it fully sorted then. I think i might buy some in the future, but at the moment i have shed loads of other stuff to get first (now i have a set to use).
Thanks again
