Adjustable Shock Linkage
Is anyone interested in an adjustable shock linkage? I have made the prototype and am getting ready to run a batch of these. The more interested parties, the cheaper I can get them done. Let me know if you are interested and how much they are worth to you (be realistic) so I can see if they are worth having made in quantity.

I'll be interested, will it be fitted with a roller bearing?

Re: Adjustable Shock Linkage
Mike,
have you checked for clearance with exhaust pipes? Rick Oliver already supplies a similar set in the U.K, but it doesn't work with all exhaust routings. I made an alteration with a "dogleg" drop to clear the pipes.

See link for my tread where I described it.
great that you still keep up developing parts and ideas...., it keeps the rest of us on our toes.

Re: Adjustable Shock Linkage
Hey Mike,
these questions might be micky mouse but,
1. Are the eye ends going to be a problem for those who fit a hugger due to the extra thickness and thread lenght?
2. How much available adjustment in the torque links is there and will this effect handling adversly if over/incorrectly adjusted?
3. What is the overall amount of "seat ride hight" adjustability in the link (lowest and highest points).
4. Is it possible to adjust one side more than the other which might end up causing suspension geometry issues? I only ask this as I would be likely to feck it up!!!
Regards,
Curt.

Re: Adjustable Shock Linkage
Wow, you guys brought up some good points.
1. They will not be fitted with a roller bearing at this time because the heim joint ("rod end") acts as a bearing.
2. I hadn't considered the exhaust clearance because the system was off the bike when I took my measurements. We are going with an under-tail system on the 450, so that won't matter. However, the 428 may have some problems. I will definitely have to look into that.
3. Currently I have 5mm of adjustment either way. I think that is too much so I will probably reduce it to 3mm either way.
4. Yes, it will be very easy to adjust one side different to the other, so I recommend careful measuring and set-up.
5. I do not know how the rear huggers look or fit as we don't run them. Can you send a pic?
6. The purpose of this link isn't as much for a ride height adjustment as to change the shock link rate. Several racers have talked to us about changing the rising-rate of the linkage to prevent additional squat that has been happening. Once the adjustment has been made to increase/decrease the rate, the ride height will be adjusted back to the preferred set-up at the shock (or the shock mount on the RVF).
I have some more details to figure out. Thanks for the Qs.

Re: Adjustable Shock Linkage
Hi Mike,
Mine are very similar, and I don´t have clearance issues with yamamoto or standard headers. But do run tight though.

P.S. Now you told me things are moving, can´t wait to see those new big bores...
Cheers,
Emilio

Those are nice links. Do you just have a spacer tube between the links on the frame side? Are your rod ends Metric or Inch? I really like the graduation stickers to aid in equal adjustments. Who made those? I might just buy a set, mine took me all day to make.
Yes, the Cosy's are coming soon. Very soon. Hang in there my friend.

Drunkn, the rod end and bolt are much wider than the steel plate and bolt they replace, trust on that. My laser full system fouls horribly

1- yes, a 12mm ext x 10mm int alu spacer.
2 - Rod ends metric skf SA10C, SAL10C... I think I chose them for the weigh and being quite narrow, if memory doesn´t fail.
3- Sleeve M10x1.5R- M10x1.5L in 14mm dia steel at my local machinist, painted 1k black, and stikers... I can´t really remember how I did them.
Everything is still in its place... Two years and counting.
One thing I dont like in this system is it is really nice on paper, but once the headers are on... it is quite difficult to adjust. On the good side you have weigh savings.
If you want any further pics, I can send them to your Email. Just ask.
Cheers,
Emilio
