Decided to play with my new shock this morning, a Showa unit from a Hornet.

Got the old shock off no problem.

Old and New

Not quite the direct fit I was hoping for

Due to the extra length of 13mm and the extra diameter of 6mm, the bottom dog leg mount needs a larger offset and I need longer bones

I need to increase the offset by about 13mm from the OE 45mm

And increase the dog bone length by about 15mm from the standard 100mm

Does anyone know of anything that will fit before I start making things?

I think modifying this lot to fit the hornet shock will possibly ruin the handling of the bike.

Seems like a lot of work for a shock that may not work well - but I appreciate that someone has to do the leg work

How much longer is the Hornet shock? Assuming that the linkage works in a similar fashion to NC30/35, lengthening the linkage will defeat the purpose of installing a longer shock. i.e no increase in ride height. If the linkage ratio is in the same ballpark as NC30/35 (which it probably isn't), then you'd be loosing about 45 mm of ride height and then adding what looks like about the same when you fit the new shock. I agree that it will probably bugger the handling. But I'd be pleased if you proved me wrong ;)
