NC24 Road Test. Neo???
Having balanced the carbs and watched the snow disappear, I decided a road test was in order.
The bike runs a lot better than it did. I'm going to remove the return throttle cable because no matter how I adjust it, when I'm braking and push forward on the throttle, the bike stalls. It seems as though the return cable is pulling the throttle closed too far.
Apart from that, there's a slight stuttering in the upper rev range. Low and mid is fine. It smells at little rich so I'm wondering if the stuttering is down to over-fuelling? Or do you think it may be an air flow problem?

Re: NC24 Road Test. Neo???
Sorry for the delay, i'm quite busy at the moment.
Do not remove the return cable. Honda wouldn't have put it there if it caused problems, removing it is side-stepping the actual issue.
when your bike is idling is the throttle plate tight against the idle adjuster? If it is there is no way that pressing the throttle cable backwards will be able to make the engine idle any lower.
More often than not the throttle cables are adjusted incorrectly so that at idle the throttle plate isn't flush against the stop so when you press the thtottle cable back you are lowering the idle so it stalls.
When it's set-up properly you shouldn't be able to stall it.
I'd recommend a cheap dyno run right now to see how your fuelling is going. You'll also get a BHP output too..
Without being there and riding it, it is difficult to say how its running, with a fuel air-graph infront of you then you can make appropriate descions. (if you post it i'll be able to give you better advice)

Re: NC24 Road Test. Neo???
For some reason, the return cable is too short and there's no adjustment in that direction. No slack whatsoever. I've removed it for now and that has solved that particular issue. I'll see about getting a replacement cable sooner rather than later.
I'll not be using the bike much for the next few weeks so I'll get a dyno run booked for the end of the month once I've had my first couple of pay packets from the new job.

Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

Good good.
If you post your fuel / air graph and related information I should be able to help you, I put one together the night before we took it to a dyno and it made 55bhp, would have been even more if the clutch wasn't slipping slightly.
If the throttle return cable were too short tho surely this would keep the throttle open somewhat and you won't be able over-close the throttle?
