Carb Cleaning - Lidl Ultrasonic Cleaner £16.99

Post by thunderace »

Picked up my Lidl ultrasonic cleaner last night. Already cleaned my specs with good results so I'll be stripping down my spare carbs later and giving them a blast. Will post before & after pics later on today :peace:

It's a great price - is it actually big enough to fit a carb body into? Keen to know the results so please post up some pictures.

My g/f is a dental technician, they have a 2 litre capacity ultrasonic cleaner at her lab. The look she gave me when I asked if I could swing by and dump some carbies into it was priceless.

Not quite big enough for the main carb body but big enough for all the other bits once the carb is stripped. Cleaned up the jets a treat with just warm water. I'm getting some proper cleaning fluid shortly (the wife is re-allocating a few resources at work) to give those tough stains on the bowls and slide covers a good seeing to.

I forgot to take pics of my ventures last night but I'll try again tomorrow as I only ended up doing one carb anyway.

Ive just bought a slightly bigger ultrasonic cleaner to clean my RVF carbs. I went into Lidl and they had sold out at all my local branches. I went on ebay and spent far more than I intended to! :o

Please can anyone that uses one of these machines show photos on the forum for before and after. It'd very interesting to see. The results Ive seen on the internet look very impressive.

I'll post my pics up here as soon as Ive got results!

Cheers
Dan

 I've just not had time to do my carbs yet. Plus I'm waiting for my cleaning fluid to turn up. Must kick the wife's bum into gear on that
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.

There is a big difference between the industrial units and the Ebay/ Lidl cleaners, I have purchased mine for cleaning carb jets etc.. I have no idea how a carb body will come out in a home unit, would also think the right cleaning soloution is vital..
