Best 98dB end cans?????
Hi all, i am looking at getting a different end can to run in streetstocks. it needs to be 98dB!
I have a micron race can now and that is usually around 102dB,
I have seen a nice looking Scorpion oval/triangle carbon can that looks pretty good, anyone had one of these, or recomend a n other?
Cheers

Hiya Bud, yes will be looking at doing a few with NG and i have seen DP do alot of races at Anglesey, so i might try to get a few in with them too, as Anglesey is quite close by.
I have got 2 baffles 1 short and 1 long, but i couldn't seem to get the bike running right with either one. I reckon i should get it on the dyno and see exactly what is happening.
I need to get it dyno'd in anycase so will try that first.
Thanks
Are you doing any days with DP next year?

Re: Best 98dB end cans?????
seems a stupid rule for tracks tbh,
i have a TYGA can, with yamamota rears and honda headers and it get 98dB with a cheap ebay baffle, but it loses midrange, and top speeds so i guess HP down loads,
i have a new baffle from gav at jap4 to test but bike is in bits at the min, so cant do a dB test just yet but looks like its been made very well as expected from tyga and jap4!
will update in the next month when powdercoatings done and bike back together!

Yes would be good to know what you are getting PD. I think i will try the baffle on the dyno and see what sort of difference it makes.

Re: Best 98dB end cans?????
well when the prototype K&N gets sorted ill be upping the jets, 122.5 & 125's i think and ill see if a can book a few hours on a dyno, and sort jetting out and ill get full before and afters with tyga baffle and ebay baffle and see what happens i think gavin was expecting it back once id done a dB test, but i bet he wouldnt mind if i did dyno gains or loses with it. looking about 2months away for Dyno at least.skinnydog0_0 wrote:Yes would be good to know what you are getting PD. but tbh if the sound is a loss on the tyga one is better over the ebay one ill buy it anyway for MOT time

i think they were £25 ish from gav, but im just his guinea pig to try it out for him. the ebay one was a reduce no doubt, but it makes a really anoying raspy sound that just pisses your off. but there was about a 10dB loss, which took it to 98db. ill see if i can find post and link it in here buddy.
will be back with results ASAP.

reason i ask i had an advisory on my last mot, (exhaust to loud) and that was with a baffle on the much quieter FUEL can, since then ive gone for the shorter and louder TYGA can,
im doing a bike safe with the North Wales old bill in a fortnight, and thought id end up with a ticket, so bought a baffle on eBay, i thought id make my values into a fancy laminated A5 cert incase the old bill asks?
well tonight i bought home a Decibel meter from work.
the readings are as follows
Ambient Start dB = 45-49dB AV 47dB
Without (eBay) Baffle
Idle Slow - 1.5k RPM = 86-88dB AV 87dB
Idle Fast - 2k RPM = 95-97dB AV 96dB
Fast Race - 6k RPM = 102-106dB AV 104dB
With (eBay) Baffle
Idle Slow - 1.5k RPM = 80-83dB AV 81.5dB (-5.5dB)
Idle Fast - 2k RPM = 85-86dB AV 85.5dB (-10.5dB)
Fast Race - 6k RPM = 96-99dB AV 97.5dB (-6.5dB)
Ambient Finish dB = 45-49dB AV 47dB
i ran the bike on choke for several mins to get up to temp before using the idle screw to get a constant RPM and tested over 10secs to record HIGH/LOW Values.

Re: Best 98dB end cans?????
Still very pleased with my Fuel can after a year or so. I run it with just the small end piece of the baffle, so not too loud but sounds great.

Cheers for that PD, useful info. I will get my tank off tomorrow and get you some pics of my air filter, i have a free flowing home made air filter on my rvf, it's a bit heath robinson, but it works and stops crap getting sucked into the carbs
