Fork woes

Hi guys,

So as some of you may know, lately ive been overhauling my nc30 as there is a list longer then my arm of things to do to it to even get it roadworthy.

Up until now its all been going well reasonably smoothly and its starting to look great. Anyway to cut to the chase;

Both fork seals were weaping badly (its been sat in a garage for about 5yrs) so I decided to take the forks off and change the seals and oil. As you know the damper bolt in the bottom of the forks have to be removed in order for the damper and stanchon to be removed, and this is where the trouble started.

The damper bolt was siezed in there good and proper, being as carefull as I could I still managed to round off the allen bolt, so then i tried an extractor tool, that stilll wouldnt budge it, the only thing left for me to do was to drill it out (as Ive seen mentioned on here).

having no previous experience in this I managed to damage the fork lower and damper seat beyond repair Luckily the other fork's damper bolt wasnt so stubborn and I managed to loosen it without rounding the head too much.

So Im just after some advice as to what to do next? Im currently on the look out for a full set of second hand forks in good condition and have posted in the wanted section, but is there anywhere that I could get hold of a brand new set of lowers perhaps? and a damper seat?

hey mate, thanks for the offer but it is really screwed beyond repair, Im not sure how I managed it, just lack of experience in drilling out bolts in awkward places I guess, Im really quite annoyed at myself

anyway I need to source some new or used forks or lowers which is proving impossible at the mo, I can see one set of later type on ebay but ehy look rank, and with that amount of dirt and corrosion on the lowers I can imagine the damper bolt will be seized in on them too and I sure as hell dont fancy trying to drill another one out!

David silver spares have a Right hand one for sale, not cheap but at least you know it will be ok and will last for a long time. Im not sure if it might include the tubes and seals too as it is described as the 'fork assembly'.
