Now, i fully understand the issue of over-braking but ive had my eye on a set of MV F4 nissin 6 pots, for a little while now, ok ages - i just wanted to know if anyone had been brave enough to have a go @ them???

Also, maybe on less of an over-braking note, what about radial 4 pots on an NC30???
Does anyone know of anyone who makes fork leg adaptors to fit them???
You see, im sure most of you are saying no but ive seen them with my own eyes,!
only 1 problem, the person who has them, doesnt want to sell them to me & he doesnt know where they came from, as they came on the bike - check out the bright orange nc30 on gumtree for sale (london area)
& im not paying all that money for a pony looking bike just to get the brakes!

The seller has given me the address of the person he purchased the bike from but he doesnt have a tel number or a name!

Ive seen there is a US company making radial caliper adaptors for SP1/2's on ebay & various other places.

Im just thinking, radial calipers = much newer, nice & powerful & @ the moment, very cheap, ive seen 2 year old nissin's go for £50 on ebay, i just need some brackets!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be great.

They look like gsxr calipers to me, that bike was on here years ago, it was rather tidy for what it is.

That bike used to be owned by a nice fella called Darren/Oily - he is a nice guy but I doubt he would make some more.
Go search for his posts... :rocks:

He basically bolted a chunk of metal to the forks and fitted the calipers.

So, they are no "proper" radials..they are still bolted on axially although the calipers are bigger..

that Orange bike was lovely back in the day and has been mullered!

I thought the idea of radial brakes was to eliminate the flex from traditionally mounted calipers?

If you attach them via brackets your just going to add back in the flex.......(?)

In my experience a set of well serviced brakes with a deccent set of pads and hoses will be absolutely fine. If its 'kudos' your after, stick on a set of Ohlins R&T and brembo mono's 8-)

My mate Ian had 6 pot GSXR calipers fitted to his NC30, Yes it was over-braked, but he was a bit of a loon on his NC and would wheelie and stoppie it all the time!

Here is a pic of him at Cadwell (you can just about see the 6-pots!)

I agree a set of good working brakes should be just fine, there are very few times i get left behind on the brakes ( i might brake way to early and get left, but i dont use them too 100% )

I thought that radial calipers were also to allow for changing the size front discs you run too?
An NC is for life, not just for Christmas!

Yeah, im not looking for flashy-ness - im not into that.
I'd rather have a fast bike with quality set up suspension & brakes than have a flashy, shiney bike.
Im looking for the most amount of braking power with-out over-braking the bike.
I already run SP1 calipers, a 929 m/c with braided lines & ebc hh pads but i just wanted a bit more (if its possible) but am already getting unwanted stoppies :grin:

tbh, (& i know you've most probably heard it all before from many other people) i ride my far from slow nc30, completely & utterly flat out when out on a good run with my lot (there are a couple of people on here who can vouch for how i ride) :mrgreen: & im not a muppet!
I rely on the handling (sorted) & brakes to keep me in touch with my other fast road mates, who all ride bigger bikes. im there with them the whole time but every little helps.

the close up pics of the calipers brackets help - cheers & helps me to make my mind up, thats clearly a bad idea. wow, they are crappy but are obviously functional - too much metal there for me though.

Well i shall stick with what i have, im happy with the set up & it transforms the braking power over standard.

If you want radial calipers the logical thing to do would be to just fit a complete front end from any late model sportsbike (or aftermarket forks/brakes- pricey!). A few members here have taken that route.

I've found that you can easily over-brake the bike with good condition (i.e freshly built) standard calipers and OE (nissin pads)

There a really good setup for the bike, even on the track.

Bolting Radial calipers on axially isn't going to improve flex apart from the gain of the larger caliper...

Have you tried different pads? HRC have stopped making their hard bite pads for the SP1/2. Shame really, I still have a few sets but I'll hang on to 'em for my SP2. They may still make the soft bite pads - either was way better than standard. I did try the hard bites once on the RVF but they were too outrageous on the light bike.
