Indicator issue

Post by hallsie »

I'm getting intermittent indicators on the left hand side , all the bulbs are ok and the indicators are all new , I have totally stripped and cleaned the switchgear and checked the connectors , is this a sign of relay failure as they are fine if I turn right but may or may not work turning left !

Sounds like a snapped wire, within its covering. Also check for streching it could be a combination of these as long as the connectors are pushed home ok. Check the bulbs in their holders if you have not done this.

Just an after thought, if the indicators are new check they are the same size bulbs in all indicators, especially if there of the Chinese variety..

That happens a lot on vfr's.

Taking the switchgear apart and giving it a thorough clean (with contact cleaner or wd40) cures it 99% of the time. The build up of grease stops the switches contacting properly.
