Total loss help

Hi people

got a few questions as im converting my old bike to total loss for the new owner who's bought it and was wondering if anyone knows exactly how to do it.

is it simple remove the reg remove flywheel and alternator and tape up the connections?


also does anyone have the tools required to remove the rotor? ie that thing to lock the flywheel and a puller thing? if so is their anyway I could possible borrow them for next weekend?

Going total loss is as simple as removing the flywheel - you can leave the stator in place and wiring connected if you want to, but removing it saves weight(!) and if you choose not to, disconnect the wiring then tie the plugs close to each other with a cable tie.

Are you removing the lights etc?

You can just remove the flywheel, stator, reg/rec, chop anything out the loom that you dont' need (all ancillaries such as lights / switches) if being a track bike.

You can remove the flywheel, although this will lower inertia as the engine doesn't have the momentum of the flywheel, especially at low rpm, again not such an issue for track bikes.

The K7 rotor conversion will save you a tonne of weight and let you keep the charging system.. might be worth while floating that to the new owner, unless of course they plan on going total loss with a micro weight saving battery and ripping out everything.. :)
