does it fit the NC23 or NC29 and what mods are needed if so?

They definitely don't fit, the ABS plastic tank covers used on the 600RR (03+ I think) are a completely different shape to the 400 tank. To make it work you have two options, buy a 600RR tank to match the tank cover or paint the 400RR tank to match what ever other fairings you're using. To make it more interesting they changed the tank on every model so an 03-04 won't fit an 05-06 or 07-08 or vice versa.

I've seen pictures of it done both ways, but I can't find any decent pics to show if the lines work properly when using 600RR tank and the 600RR fairings, I'll probably fiddle around with it more once I've got my 600RR fairings installed properly on my 400 and decide which way I'm going to go. (Probably just paint the 400 tank as I'm painting the bike anyway so it will work out about $200 cheaper, more if I can sell my tank cover and tank bra)

If you're asking about the leather tank bras then it can be modified to fit.

Tyga make a tank cover for the nc29 but it is made to stick over the top of a damaged standard tank if you ask them nicely. I'm getting a 10 litre alloy tank made for my race bike. You will need to make front and rear mounts if you do this.
