Making standard rearsets look decent?

Hey guys,

Any tips to freshen up the original rearsets on an NC35? I'm going to give them a good polish with some Autosol.
I've also seen a picture where someone has done an average job of drilling holes in them..
Has anyone seen a good example of this being done successfully? Pics?

You'll need to remove the coating off them before you get the Autosol onto them. Caustic (oven cleaner) works a treat and then it doesn't take much elbow grease to give them a mirror shine by hand - or 5 minutes on a bench grinder with mops

Personally not a fan of drilled rearsets, but if you do it, drill a pilot hole first (or make up a jig). It looks awful if they're even a little bit out of whack!

I used some scouring pads with a bit of paraffin, then with wire wool a dab of brasso, finished with a smearing of ACF50 (not to mention a little patience). Nice smooth, O.E. finish; not keen on polishing too much these days (apart from the bolts holding the things together).



Might help to get a good base for polishing if you must, I recommend sorting any drilling out before you start on the restoration mind.

If I can offer an opinion Jonno, BEET ones look quite good, unless you're staying stock?

I might have a set of WRC rearsets soon as I have procured another RVF. I'm pulling apart bikes at the moment and swapping some stuff over. I'm a bit over 6ft and find that the WRC rearsets cramp me up too much. I prefer the stock.

They have come up unbelievable!! What is ACF50?
