Alright everybody,

I followed Cammo's carb-setting guide to the letter, as far as I can tell. Today I re-attached all the hoses and cables, put the air-box on and got the fuel tank on.
Tried to start it and nothing much happened.
The spark was loud and strong, I had several litres of fresh fuel, and I tried the tap at both On and Reserve. But there was nary a hint of ignition. I double-checked with Cammo's guide and my Haynes manual and can't spot anything that I meseed up or missed.

What should I check first?

On the underside of the fuel tank? I think so, I have the larger hose on the only place it fits, and the smaller hose on the outer one that is also horizontal. I have nothing going into the vertical spigot.

Clutch switch? Pull the clutch in and see if it helps?

You got the neutral light on the dash?

So, it is spining over and making like it wants to start...but nothing?

Spray some carb cleaner into the airbox, see if it catches...that will prove sparking OK...then you need to make sure you are using choke adn also that the idle screw adjuster (near choke) is actually set so that it is not starved totally.

It did, but not that well. It was not idling well enough and often cut out when rolling to a stop.

The emulsion tubes were back to front and I put in new main jets. The carbs seemed in good nick.

They can be a pain to start when run dry anyway.

You want full choke and no throttle at all.. go in 5 second bursts with 2 - 3 minutes of rest on the battery.

Open one of the drain screws on the carbs after a couple of go's and make sure you have petrol in the carbs... it'll drip out if you do, which will prove that you have fuel going into the carbs.

If there dry its a fuelling problem :)

Checked the carbs, they were full of fuel.

Re-connected everything as tight as possible, then did 3 cycles of 5 seconds full choke, no throttle. First time I thought it was gonna catch but didn't. Tried twice more with 3 minute breaks but no joy.

Are you sure the carb and airbox are seated & sealed properly?
