Wrong emulsion tubes on my nc35 carbs?

Post by code2006 »

Hi guys I have a spare set of carbs and I was going to put my new jets in there (112) and service the carb( make sure it's clean ect ect) and then swap the carbs on my bike

Anyway as I took the jet out it said 116 so I thought maybe some one changed the jets
Took the front emulsion tube and it looked different from ones that r in cammos diy guide mine has 3 holes so that's 6 holes in total and cammos pic has 4 on front and 5 on rear

So all the jets on this carb are 116, all 4 emulsion tubes have 3 holes so 6 in total, and the pilot jets have 2 holes 8 holes in total per jet and they r size 35
I have another spare set of carbs so I'm going to strip them down as well but does any one know y this carb is different? I have uploaded pics

I don't know if there 'wrong' but they don't look like the standard Honda ones.

Have you run those carbs?

Those look like the big Keihin jets.. there longer than the standard honda ones by 1.4mm...

If they went to the trouble of changing the emulsion tubes to get the fuelling good sounds like they would have been a well setup set.

Alex: I don't know that those emulsion tubes are different from standard, I've never looked inside rvf carbs. The vfr emulsion tubes (pics in the guide) are different to rvf items.

They are aftermarket jets though.

I had mine in my hands only yesterday, but can only be 90% sure (terrible memory  ) that those emulsion tubes (needle jet holders) are the same as mine, which should mean they are the standard RVF400 units!
The same goes to the Pilot Jets, standard 35's!
Looks like only the main jets were changed, possibly to suit an aftermarket zorst & maybe different air filter too!

P.s. My carbs are still not fitted, so if you need confirmation of what's on my carbs I can open them up and take a photo or two!

NOTE: Just checked the parts manual and it shows 2 different part numbers for the emulsion tubes - 16165-MR8-900 for cylinders 2&4 (front ones) and 16166-MR8-900 for cylinders 1&3 (rear ones)!
This must mean that they're actually different in some way!? Will have to get mine off again to confirm it!!!...

Usually you have a couple of extra holes in the rear ones (this is going from 24 knowledge) this just richens up the back at idle as they have less air-cooling effect on them
