Tyre Choice

Post by subs75 »

Apologies if this has already been discussed elsewhere already, but i'm looking for some advice on tyre choice for an NC23.
I've thoroughly enjoyed a fresh pair of BT090's on the road and on track but it now transpires that the bike is to be used for commuting. It's a 60km daily round trip, not too twisty. I love the bt090's, they inspire such confidence and were absolutely marvellous on the track also but it seems such a waste on a commuter.

Any recommendations? Any I should avoid? The front looks OK so it may just be easier and cheaper to get the back replaced like for like and just keep on having fun...

BT090 front= grip
BT092 rear=longevity

*IF* you can source them. BT tyres for our bikes are getting harder to find.

OK thanks. In the absence of being able to source the 092, are there any other tyres apart from the 090's that are worth looking into? Else I suppose its the 090...and you're right. It *is* hard to source tyres for these wheels...

Ahh, like that is it? OK people, thanks for the help.

edit: http://www.universal-tyres.co.uk - for reference, these chaps had an 014, and an 092 in stock and could source an 090 within a day. Branches all over the UK apparently.

you'll probably run out of tyre on a corner and tank slap.
150 was spec for a reason. try to stick to it.

what do you lot think of Pirelli?

Was thinking of Pirelli Diablos for my bike, mainly commuting and odd days out with my mate at sensible speeds.
