NC35 tacho
Anyone know which way round the two connectors to the back of the NC35 tacho are?
One is power and one is earth but which way round do they go?
I messed up a bit connecting the NC35 clocks to the NC30 loom thanks to Honda using Green and Green/Black for both power and earth! I ended up double earthing the tacho.
I must admit I'm assuming the NC35 tacho should work with the NC30 wiring!

Nah, yellow/green is the signal from the CDI, that is off a bullet connector, the ones I'm interested in the two connections that screw into the back.jameswilco wrote:im not 100% sure but i think the live is yellow/green, but you might want to get someone else to double check that
Trouble is that the wiring isn't original and I'm not sure if I've got them the right way round.

Re: NC35 tacho
if you are using VFR loom then not sure if the RVF clocks will work? Sure the no. of pickups is different so I assume this causes issues with the rev counter?

Re: NC35 tacho
It won't work, you need the nc30 tach. They're not interchangeable.fastdruid wrote: I must admit I'm assuming the NC35 tacho should work with the NC30 wiring!
There are different converters(?) in each, you need the same tach as the loom you're running. As far as I'm aware there's no way around this.
I had to use a '35 tach when I put a '35 engine and loom into my '30. The NC29 and NC35 tachos are interchangeable, not sure of any substitutes fior the nc30 but there are probably some out there, one of the old hands might know.

This would explain why the NC30 tacho works but the NC35 one does nothing. There are different converters(?) in each, you need the same tach as the loom you're running. As far as I'm aware there's no way around this.

Re: NC35 tacho
It's an NC35 with NC30 carbs, exhaust, wiring loom, pickups and CDI.CMSMJ1 wrote:if you are using VFR loom then not sure if the RVF clocks will work? Sure the no. of pickups is different so I assume this causes issues with the rev counter?
There is nothing doing at all with the tacho, if it was as simple as just the case of there being a pickup less[1] I'd expect it to half read.

Re: NC35 tacho
Problem solved, the NC30 tacho itself is a perfect fit into the NC35 shell.
After some trepidation (about potentially breaking a perfectly working NC30 tacho) I prized the rim off the NC30 tacho, took the NC35 clocks apart and swapped the tacho mechs over.
Job done.
