Fiberglass type repair?

What is this fiberglassy type materiel on the fairing? Just recently bought the bike and was hoping to eventually respray it but I don't know what these are, how to take them off, or even if I should?

P.S- Sorry if this is a stupid question but i've looked aroudn the site and can't find the answer, as i'm planning on respraying this bike, where do you get new decals from?

I can understand having some of the fibreglass around mounting holes, etc for additional strength, but the only reason I can think of to use it anywhere else is because the plastic has cracked :?:

It looks like some sort of adhesive with a 'fake' weave pattern in it - maybe a protection thing in the event of a drop? Not sure why it would be on the seat unit though?

Looks like it would peel of easily :peace:

It is on for strengtening mas the lower fairing flexes when it goes around the engine,it looks a fucking good job,but to me it has been made by a manufacturer

Cool, cheers guys. Looks like i'll be leaving it on for the time being then, may end up sticking with the current paint job in that case as well! (P.S- It really won't peel off easily!!)

Yep I agree, will be a bitch to peel off and you'll have to probably use some thinners or meths to remove the adhesive left on the panels.
If your going to repaint it anyway then get it all off, it looks gash!

Has the last owner lacquered over it?
