So im new to this forum, discovered it after i bought my first 'big bike'. Its a 1990 NC30, bought the bike off ebay, went to hull to fetch it and brought the bike back in a van. Overall the bike is in pretty good condition mechanically. Cosmetically is pretty nakerd but that didnt matter the slightest as we (me and my dad) are buying all new tyga rc211v fairings.

So this is the bike as we bought it, got the bike for £700, decent price?







The bike is already in bits. Its been completely stripped, weve already painted both forks, all brake calipers, engine and sub frames. The frame itself, swinging arm, wheels and top yoke is goin off to get powder coated tomorrow. Were trying to be a bit different and having the frame and swing arm in gloss white, top yoke will be in gloss black as well as the wheels.

Ive got loads of plans for the bike, were going for the white/black kinda thing. Thinking of having the fairings in pearl white with a tint of light blue in it.

As i said this is my thread for the project so as things get done ill keep updating and adding pics. Goin back up to shed to get some more painting done! Hope everyone likes my idea's, feel free to comment!

Forgot to mention, im looking at these rearsets for my bike, are they a straight fit, i know we need an inline pressure switch but im just wondering if they will fit straight on the bike?

Definatly worth £700 id say. As for the rearsets they will fit straight on but you might be better off making some from a block of cheese. Theres been mixed opinions on these rearsets ,some good, some very bad and for such an important part of the bike id spend a bit more on some decent sets, why risk it.

looks like a good buy for £700, you should make a few quid back on the bodywork it has now aswell.
if your after some rearsets keep an eye out in the for sale section theres normaly a few in there.
intrested to see what a white frame and swingarm will be like.

A little more than i'd have paid but I dont like paying a lot. especially for a cosmetically bad one as I really dont like the tyga stuff and original panels can be pricey.

As long as your happy with it, initial cost is neither here nor there.

Those cheap rear-sets are a complete waste of money though.

There not yoshimura, just some cheap chinese knock off crap.

Theres a reason Valter Moto etc rearsets are £400. You get what you pay for.

Standard Honda pegs are good quality unless your leaning it quite a bit as they do scrape real easy.

Thanks for the advice on the rearsets. If im being honest i only want different rear sets for the looks, i think the original sets look quite dated, im just wanting something that doesnt cost the world but looks a little more modern. The bike will only be used on weekends, and im not exactly a mad rider with sliders on!

Its not much of an update but we got a few little bits done. Managed to take a few pictures last night, all of the bits are here there and everywhere in our tiny shed but it does a job.

You might be scratching your heads with regards to the colour of the calipers and disks but hopefully everything will come together..



The calipers and the disks are the same colour but for some reason my iphone has made them look two different colours.

The frame and wheels are gonna get powder coated today..


Decided to paint the forks anthracite (still masked up)


Its not going to be the mintest bike ever but its certainly going to look a lot better than it did. Next thing on the list is to get some graphics ordered. We quite like the REV'IT! moto gp bike so i think were gonna get a set sorted out. Whats peoples opinions on digital speedo's?

I have a Acewell digital dash and a KOSO, Im using the acewell at the moment and its great and dead easy to setup. Ive fitted the KOSO but no used it yet, looks a little like the translogic but a fraction of the price and includes a shift light amoung other features
