Ducati Factory Tour - September 2010

Post by CRM »

Ok so who fancies a tour of the ducati factory and museum ? i havn't been this year and never tire of the place.
the tour involves a walk around the factory floor production area, and assembly lines of the models being built at that time. after the tour you go next door to the museum and can spend as much time in their as you like.

Flights are from stanstead airport, and bologna airport is only a 10 min taxi ride to the factory.

Numbers are need to pre book the tour and cost of the tour is now 10 euros each (was free)

So if anyone has preffered dates then lets get things moving.

BTW its weekdays only - no weekends sadly.

any takers for the 20/21 september ?

Kris, if you can get that for 3.5k get it bought, dont think about it just buy it.
it looks a nice one, ticks all the right box's apart from the naff sticker kit, interestingly its BP yet has an ohlins and TIN forks yet black mirrors, so either he has put the shock on, or its well known the factory put what ever is closest to hand on the bike regardless of spec. being a 2001 model also might mean it was loaded up pre 998 stretta build.
i really think 3,5k is a good price to buy that bike, its alot of bike for the money and an average 916 would cost that or more and this is a better engine by far in terms of performance. a crappy 748 would only be a grand less and they are - well you know my feelings with 748/749 base model engines.

EDIT

Just to add here, is he saying the belts have never been changed
the belts are 2 years or 12k which ever comes sooner.

belts with a low use / mileage still can fail if left for any period in one position, they take the shape of the pullys and dont recover well when used.

i cant believe its never had belts, if it hasnt then i wonder what else hasnt been done on it. infact the more i think about this if its still being run on those belts its a timebomb waiting to go off.

belt failure is one of those myths that scare people to death (it used to scare me) its not that bad, i have mine done yearly regardless only because they are cheap and a 2 hour job start to finish. ask some questions probing the service history, lets see how he answers, more he published more it will scare people off then its yours for the taking. if you get it, book it in either at a main dealer or a good independant and get them changed before you ride. if a belt goes then budget 1-1.3k for a repair.

Thanks Paul. As you know ive been looking for a while, i have a feeling it will be a bidding war, i could push to 3700 i will let you know. i agree with the sticker kit, but apparently theyre not lacquered and will come off easily.
