Rear shock rebuild??

Post by Snap »

Is it worthwhile getting the OEM rear shock rebuilt? I cant afford an aftermarket rear shock and 2nd hand they hardly ever come up (gimme a shout if you have one to sell). im guessing my only option is to get the oem unit rebuilt?

Anyone had it done? Any recommendations about where to get it done?

Thanks.

ps: dont want to go down the rs250 shock route.

What bike is it? Standard vfr shocks can be rebuilt, not rvf.

A freshen up will certainly make an improvement.

There are cheap options to an aftermarket. I think gsx-r late model shocks fit, you can get them for under 70 quid.

Thanks for the reply. NC30 is my bike. I'll try and go down oem refresh route.

can't comment on quality etc as I havent used them myself. Seems costly to me though.

Reputation is everything. Ask some of the racers in the racing section perhaps.

Probably not all bad, but it seems that many 'shock refurb' services are being offered on ebay these days, buyer beware.

I paid £125 for a full rebuild, powder coated spring, re-gas + insured return post.
Works great.
