my poxy rvf done my head in replaced head bearings with shiny new taper bearings still cannot get rid of the notchyness so have given up any help is appreciated otherwise gonna burn the bloody thing :cry: :cry:
back on the road and it feels good

Certain it is the head bearings?

With conical taper bearings there is much less likelyhood of 'notching' or 'centering' than with ball races due to the load direction and increased bearing contact surface. My only guess is that you may have overtightened them, or that they are fitted out of true. Slacken them off a touch and see how it feels then. Hope this helps.

your around the northwest arnt you ? if you need help ride it over to the top end of frodsham and i will make sure they are adjusted correctly. it may be something like a cable snagging.

he is in north notts area eg mansfield but since he put that post theres no movement just a bit stiff but i think its down to the bearings to wear in a bit but like i said im no expert lol we was at it for about 4 hours 2day and he thought bout throwin the towel just hope he dont

If the old bearings have worn notches in it that bad that you can either fit some larger bearings to try and 'skip over' the notches or like i had to do a few years ago was visit a local machinist who reground everythign and supplied some new bearings, I think I paid around £40.00
