Fuel tap

Post by housleynick »

Hi

Just a note for all 400 Bandit owners who need a fuel tap to replace the original that cant be repaired or £97 plus VAT from Robinsons Foundry for a new one.
I have found a perfect match, part number 747623 £24 form Hi Level Doncaster or about £34 on Ebay, it fits the RD350 but is perfect replacement, the fuel outlet is on the other side but fuel pipe can be rerouted and there is a prime on it.
Hope this is a help to you all.

Hi , I have a intermittent Fuel Petcock flow issue it seems to be just starting to let go, Im also looking for a replacement item and have a few questions about swapping to a rebuildable petcok or dumping the Vacum set up and running a On Off Reserve Tap and just blocking off the vacum line So , Thus far we have learnt the DR 350 Tap Works ?? Im sure you must be reffering to the DR 350 and not the RD 350 as the only RD 350 taps ive found for sale were about $180 USD !!! So i searched what would also fit the DR 350 as it seems they have been cause of the same issues with hard starting on the DR 350's so i dont see the point in getting another petcock thats got a reputation for being unreliable. I turns out the Yamaha Raptor 350 ATV petcock is straight swap for the DR 350 and i guess straight swap to the Bandit and also the Yamaha Road Star('02-'03) Is also a straight swap and very cheap as well !

So Far : - Suzuki DR 350 , Yamaha Raptor 350 ATV , Yamaha Road Star .

Anyone else swapped petcocks with another model and can say if it is direct replacement for the Bandit and rebuildable and or Vacumless petcock id like to know . Regards

Hi All

Newbie post ... got a 95 import GS400V last year and spent the winter fixing up the basics (including the valve shims - they were all in spec !) - all OK now and I'm well pleased.

Anyway - point of this post - I found a manual fuel tap that fits properly on Wemoto - bargain for £12 including the gasket. Just needs the vacuum feed pipe blanking off and presto ! Non-leaking non-vacuum fuel tap

See it here : http://www.wemoto.com/parts/picture/HL-746345/

Cheers

Nice little fine ther Rick, is it 8mm out let? Remember to switch it off as if you rely on the floats to stop the flow you may find a cylinder full of fuel.

Hi

Not sure of the outlet size but it fitted fine on replacement fuel pipe I used. Got a proper pipe clip on there and it seems secure & leak free.

By the way I bought your o-ring kit in the winter (another bargain) and spent several happy hours mucking about with the carbs. They were in surprisingly good nick, no sign of ovalling on the tubes. Some burk previous owner had raised the fuel level to compensate for the 4-1 and bodged air filter. I put the air filter back to standard and reset the fuel level and it runs really sweet now.

Got my eye on an SV1000 next, maybe next year's project ?

Cheers

Rick
