Nightmare of a day

arrrgh on my way to work at 5;30 this morning about 10 miles from home and 8 miles from work my throttle cable decided to commit suicide just as the car in front signalled to let me pass , shit shit shit no no no arrrrrgh fer FFFss sake nooooooo, pushed the bike to some little layby in the middle of nowhere and had a ciggy, umm do i ring work say i ent commin , or ring the missus , umm honey ive err broke down can you come an pick me up and take me to work, she replies , who's this ,,,, ITS ME!!!! ive broke down , ohh and bring my chain and shackle and my cover and my tool box , and my socket set , to which she replies where is it , im thinkin this aint gunna work
anyway hour later she turns up with said stuff, lock the bike cover it up jump in the car off to work (the worst feeling in the world is leaving your pride and joy on some road unattended for 8 hours), all day ive been a nervous wreck that bloody bike better still be there when i get to it, after work she picks me up and says i didnt see your bike when i went past, im thinkin fuck no no no, we aproach said spot and i cant see it , luckily its hidden between a van and a truck also parked in the layby , phew , so out with the tools see waht i can do otherwise its a bloody long push home,
i thought maybe just maybe the push cable might work as a pull cable , but nope the fittings are diffrent for the grip , (HONDA, MAN WHY OH WHY DO THIS) why couldnt the push and pull cables be the same bloody type , surley it cant be that difficult to sort that out , any way luckily the nipple died on the grip end not the carb end, so i managed to route the cable so i could sit on the bike and pull the little bit of cable by hand so i could rev the bike, so all the way home i tugged that little bugger, but it did get me home just before the end of my finger died thru lack of circulation, WHAT A CRAP DAY!!!

I'd have started the bike, put it in gear and screwed the idle adjuster right in as far as it goes. Might only be 10mph, but it beats the shit out of pushing.

Never had a throttle cable go but had the clutch go, funny thing was id just rev'd it up to 6k for a trackday noise test whilst holding the clutch in and......BANG. Scared the fucking life out of me, and the tester Needless to say i never leave it in gear anymore.

There's no way I'd have left my bike in some layby, I get jittery leaving it to go in the cafe lol!
Fairplay to you though, my mind wouldn't have been on the job so would have had to got the bike home/work which ever was nearer.

I've had to do that old trick too! Not so nice when the fastest form of transport turns into the equivelant of a tractor!

luckily i have modified to use only one-cable instead of push and pull.
