nc29 engine into an Nc23?

Post by Fluffy »

Would an engine from a Gullarm NC29 fit into a Tri Arm NC23?

any particular reason? what are the differences?
I did have an NC23 Aero engine to go in but the speedo drives off the front wheel where the tri arm runs off the front sprocket.

Completely different mounts etc.

The NC23 is a beam frame. NC29 is a twin tube staggered style frame. Just doesn't work. And in fairness, Probably not alot of point in it really anyway. The NC23 engine is probably a more robust engine anyway.

i had the aero engine in my first nc23 racebike...it fits, but u have to do alittle panel beating to the inside of the frame rails, and i couldnt get a airbox to fit...the cylinderhead is alittle wider, and the angle for the carbs is abit different.and without an airbox,it was difficult to tune.
the nc29's front mounts are different to the 23,and to be honest, the 29 engine as quite weak compared to the 23.
best bet,hunt down a 23rr engine,fit nc29carbs.

Its 'nearly' the same. and might fit. Im pretty sure the cams are different. You are better off getting a proper triarm engine. At least then you will get one that goes the same as yours used to and should go straight in.

Have you tried GF for an engine?

No I haven't didn't realise they did, expect that would be £250+ though
missed out on 3 that went for £100 a piece while I thought I had an engine sorted
and typically now there are NONE on eBay :(
