Phil, neither of the holes are used on the nc30 tank. The frnt of the seat unit bolts to the 2 metal threaded lugs on the frame.
It might have to do with the manufacturing process?

The NC24 uses these holes as side-panel holders.

I knew the threaded one was for the cowl, just thought I'd ask about the one on the tank out of curiosity.
