I use fine wire wool and some elbow grease then give em a buffing with solvol autosol... look mint afterwards.. I might have some pics somewhere of the NC24 downpipes i renewed. they'd gone brown and mingey. Shiney steel now.

excellent just what i was hoping for , mine are brown muddy looking, collars and stuff are good just hate the grubby look , so wire woll and autosol it is then , would like to see the finished results if you can find them , some before and after shots would be kool if anyone has some too , nice to see what gems come from grubby pipes

Spooky that..... I've just spent six hours taking my exhaust of and polisshing all the down pipes and collector etc. They've gone from the usual crappy brown to an almost chrome finish. I started with a fine wire brush in the drill then on to wire wool and then on to the bench grinder with polishing mops (best thing that I ever bought) Hard gratf but worth the effort in the end

Yep! Thats basically what I did :-)
And they dont' half shine afterwards :D
I think Spike16 cleaned up some pipes too recently

blue job - not cheap (well mine was free with a magazine sub ages ago). took minutes to get my GSXR system looking new again!
