new to rvf400's and wants more low end
hi guys i am a newbie to rvf400's but i absolutely love my lil TROUSER FIREWORK..
i have been riding it on the road for about 6 months now and is beautifull....the handeling is amazing...the only issue i have is the fact that between 1000 and 7000 revs there is nothing, it hardly moves and i have to constantly kep my revs up...i would like to know what can b done to get more out of this rev range
...the bike will remain on the road and maybe some time in the near future i wil track it
but it still will mainly b a road bike...i just want some more get up...because it has quite a bit of go..the bike is stock and i would really like to do some things to it, i think its time... i have a small amount of knowledge about bikes but obviously not enough...i have read many a thing that can be done to these bikes on this forum but it all seems to do wih more top end and tracking....please let me know what can be done...i have a 94 rvf400 with 35000kms on th clock and and a full stainless tyga exhaugst kit with the carbon can which has been cut to half the size not out of choice i was hit by anoter bike and it snappd so i repaird it... tyga maggot coming soon....any help will be awesome thanks....
p.s i m located in australia and any arts recommended would be much appreciated if u know where i can locate them...

Go one tooth down on the front sprocket? Will improve the acceleration.

Anything really to improve 1000-7000 will be at the expense of the top end, it is tuned for that 10k+ 'hit'.
You might manage some small improvements but nothing major, if nothing else all the 'tuning' goodies are for top end power.
So as Chris says, go for lower gearing, it wont give you more power but will enable you to use what you have better.

Get a haynes manual, take the carbs off and give them a good clean.

`ok thanks guys i will rip the carbs off give them a clean and see if it helps....i was thinking of getting a 14 sproket for the front and a 42 for the back...for quicker exceleration...i was also thinking extra washers and drilling the sliders will this help at all?...i also want to put a snorkel on my air box keep the standard air box and just extend the snorkel to sit above the radiator....

these bikes behave very differently when you start messing around with the airbox and filter.. you might need to re-jet it etc etc.. try it but if possible dont' permanantly mod the airbox unless you have a spare so you can always revert...
if I were you i'd do one thing at a time..
Carbs first (easist)
Then play with sprockets
Then tune airbox
You'll have a clearer idea of what does what then rather than doing them all at once and not knowing whats affected what :)

ok i will take ur advice on that sounds logical....what will extra washers and drilling out the sliders achieve

Best thing to do would be get a haynes manual and read through the section about them, i have just done this, very easy to do.
The older I get the faster I was.
