Does your engine overheat then ???

Yam engines tend to go hot then run at temp. Check the fan works by connecting it to a know live and earthing to the frame. If the fan works then check the earth with the fan and the known live if it runs then chances are it's the sender ... check the wires are ok and not corroded ... if they're ok then renew the sender

posted this in the wrong bit before, but me sv kicks in at around the 87degree mark according to the digital temp guage.

Don't know about the FZR, but the fan on the R1 comes on at 105 and then goes back off at 98. As long as it's coming on before the needle is in the red, it'll be reet.

let it go to 100 but switched it of before it did damage fan never cut in

100 degrees won't do the bike any harm. Assuming the system is air tight and you're running with a water/collant mix, it won't boil over till it hits 125. Normal advice is to switch the bike off at 120.

which one is the sender on the thermo housing the 2pin or 1 pin also whats the other one for

i cud be wrong but think 2 pins is ur fan thermo switch. the 1 pin is ur temperature sender for the gauge. best way to check is u shud have a live feed goin in to 1 pin, job of thermo switch when it reaches bout 98-100 degrees it make contacts to the other pin thus sending a live feed to you radiator fan. so a quick check is disconnect the 2pin plug, brigde them with a bit of wire with ignition on fan shud cut in, if not you have to check ur wiring maybe loss of feed or earth? brekage in the wiring loom.if i does cut in when bridge together then ur thermo switch has had it.
