upside down forks (is there a real improvement)

hi iv got maxton forks at the moe , just wondering whats the benerfits of upside down forks
. and what are the costs to do this mod , and parts needed

As i'm sure someone else will agree, most of the benefits of USD forks are visual rather than physical. The only advantage I can think of is lower unsprung weight which might speed up changes in direction (im not entirely sure of this though - so feel free to tell me i'm wrong). As for costs, it all depends on where you get the parts from and which conversion you go for. My setup cost me in the region of 5-600 including forks,yokes,brakes,spacers,spindle,clip-ons and conversion kit.

I could be wrong but i belive the later type NC30 forks are pretty much the same internally as the NC35 forks so performance wise your not going to gain a great deal.
The ducati setup is meant to be a good improvement but costly.

The Ducati set up is a vast improvement, and to be honest a savvy buyer could probably do the same conversion with the base spec Ducati forks (still fantastic, ducati base level is superior to many other brands as you could imagine) as the cost of the Rvf set up (Rvf forks tend to go for about £200 alone, Ducati forks can be had for less than that, yokes are a similar cost, the calipers cost more but the difference in performance doesn't even compare). If you are really serious about a Ducati front end you could always buy mine, 996 gold nitrate forks, 320mm Braking discs, etc - but it'll cost you.

How do you reduce unsprung weight by replacing light aluminium lower fork legs with steel ones?
My NC35 is more stable than my NC30, but this may be due to frame geometry such as rear ride height and fork trail etc, but I dont have the specs to hand, but a friend's NC30 with NC35 forks rides the same way as my 35.

I would not bother to change the forks for the small difference, but racers may feel a benefit.

I want to replace my standard forks on my 91' NC30 and thought about a set of nc35' usd's, but before i do whats the best upgrade for my standard forks and how much would it cost compared to a NC35 front end?? Also are nc35 usd's heavier??

I did it last year for no other reason than cosmetics. My later spec '30 forks were great with Ricks kit and set-up the way I liked it and the USD's didn't perform any better. As for cost, this is what I paid,

RVF forks - £200
RVF yokes (mint) - £220
Rick O conversion kit - £80
Calipers - £50
Hoses - £20
Spindle and nut - £15
Spacers - £15
Clip-ons - £30
Carbon fender - £60

If you are interested in doing the RVF front, it'll look great imo and I have some of the bits above if you want them but I'm not looking back the prices I paid for them. Here's how my bike looked,

okk it sounds as if it would help as my bike is a race bike ,and sounds as if the duke forks are the way to go .
