plug gaps and carb cleaning

hi,just got a nc24 and it wont start been standing a while got a new set of plugs what gap do i set them next replace fuel with new, clean carbs seen info about refitting carbs cant find info about cleaning them whats best to use and areas that get affected by standing not used.havnt got manual or handbook yetanyone suggest best source either paper or download.cheers

0.8 to 0.9 mm gap for the plugs. Check out the sticky at the top of the workshop section for some carb maintenance tips (most applies to the NC24).

And get yourself an NC30/35 Haynes manual as many of the basic stuff in there covers the NC24 also (specs are listed for the 24 in it too).

Remove the carbs from the block, turn them upside down and remove the float bowls.

It's best to work on one carb at a time to avoid mixing things up.

You can unscrew the jets and pilot screws and blast everything with carb cleaner.

Repeat for the other 3 carbs and re-assemble.

If you've brought the right plugs they shouldn't need gapping.

Change any fuel still in the bike too as it'll be old.

I'd say 99% of the time you are right, I have however occasionally run across out of spec plugs so it *is* worth checking them.
