NC29 - Fairing Sets from Hong Kong - Any good? £150 Postage?
Hiya All,
I'm seeing all these Full Fairing Sets from Hong Kong on Ebay.
hhhmmmm Effectively a new paint job, and its in ABS, not Fibre Glass....
2 Questions:
1) Are these ABS fairings from HK any good nowadays?
* Is it Chinese ones now, that are a bit dodgy?
2) £150 postage?!!?
* That seems a bit steep!
* Is there any cheaper way to get to the UK?
* I have family who go over to HK sometimes, can they get back through customs are personal luggage???
Hope you can advise!
Cheers

Thoughts vary on these but things i would be asking might be what is the inner fixings like? are there mounts in the right places and slots for the infills, because if not it will a pain lining these up.
As far as the postage is concerned, well they will want £300 approx off you which ever way you price it, so the more in postage the less in taxes when it arrives.

hiya Durka,
I've got to ask the question re:P&P.
I just object to £150 P&P!....
RE:Custom Taxes
Oh right! thats a clever way of doing it! Keeping Customs Tax down. Fair enough!
How does Customs Tax work though? Does UK Customs send you a bill, before they allow the package to be delivered to you?
RE:Inner Fixings
Good point!
I've had a good look a my existing fairings. Bit down hearted. A number of lugs snapped off, and farings not lining up etc!
Good point Durka, Thanks

Hiya All,
Good points above from Durka.
Has anyone out there had experience of these types of after market fairings? Or know people who has?
Questions:
Quality of the fit overall - everything lines up ok?
Quality of the fit to inner fixtures?
Quality of the pre drilled holes etc?
Quality of the actual fairings pieces? Uniform thickness and apperance? Strength and quality of Lugs
Quality of the graphics and paint jobs?? Uniform thickness, apperance?
Any recommended suppliers?
It would be good to buy from, and promote, the suppliers with better quality control!
Hope you can advise.
Cheers

Hi Martin, I have never actualy seen these fairings close up but I have heard from other forums that the quality of them is very hit and miss. Sometimes the pre drilled holes don't match up, the fairings don't line up properly etc. On the plus side the actual paint jobs on them are meant to be alright.
for me it would be a bit of a risk if I bought them and they didn't fit properly, its not as if they would be easy (and cheap) to send back! Cheers Paul

i fitted a set of these to my sisters bike earlier this year, the paint finish is realy good but i also gave them another coat of lacquer because i was told that they can stone chip quite easily, the mounts are very good, the pre drilled holes were spot on but they don't fit quite the same as good as oem panels mainly just the upper fairings to the nose cone, but over all if you take your time they are easy to fit and for the money they are very good

cheers tony

Hi Tony, do these fairings have the lugs for the infills and the small slots for the air intakes lugs near the indicators?

Durka beat me to that question!

Any more photos Scratchin - the fairings look brilliant!
(esp photos on the bits that where a pain to line up, the upper front fairings etc.)
Who was the supplier on ebay?

Did you get the fairings recently?
Any issues with postage?
etc
etc!
Cheers
Martin

"Does UK Customs send you a bill, before they allow the package to be delivered to you?"
> when we have stuff come in from the USA at work, the courier company pays the tax, then charges you when they deliver.
if it was the post, then you'd get a card saying you owe them XYZ and go to the post office to pay it.
