ASSEN MOTOGP 2010
OK, here goes. Sorry if this is long winded I tend to ramble..............
I am off to assen for next year for the gp. I went this year and it was amazing. The atmosphere and piss up was great. Now I am going next year to meet a load of Dutch lads I met. I went with the mrs this year but she is gonna be away at the world cup so....I am gonna organize a trip for anyone who wants to come along. It will be a very individual trip though e.g we might travel together but at the other end we can all do our own things.
Now after looking at it and after my experiences it is going to be flying to Amsterdam and then driving up to Assen (minibus/coach). Riding sounds boring and also taking into account the amount of beer being consumed!!plus the financial cost. I have a good campsite lined up that I know is spot on and also has a great location.
My mrs works for the sports division of a major tour operator and if there are more than ten people I can get group fares on a flight. It would be flying from either Manchester (my preferred) or liverpool. Now I reckon I could fit five cars and 3-4 bikes easily at my house so nobody would have to fork out for parking. My mrs can also sort out exec lounges(free beer) etc.
As for gp tickets they are easily bought online. So that would be down to yourself.
If you are interested let me know. But I am point blank not going to get involved in taking money, it's always too much hassle. Once numbers are established I will get a full package price and my mrs will sort the rest. She works for Thomsons so it would be fully abta protected.

Re: ASSEN MOTOGP 2010
I think that the trip would be flying out thursday afternoon/night returning sunday. Now it depends on what people think but after the race we could head for Amsterdam for a night out and a hotel stay. Also driving away from Assen on the Motorways after the race is a great experience as the roads are lined with people plus all the bikes.
Please leave your thoughts on this as there is plenty of time to take on board any suggestions and organise a great trip. I know this is northern oriented but something from Gatwick could be sorted. At Assen last year I met loads of lads from raf odiham club (I think smev knows then) so I know there could be some interest from down south.
Cheers
Allen.

The more that go the cheaper it will be. It will be camping though. I don't know anything about other accommodation. Also the transfers will have to be sorted. I thought if a minibus was hired whoever was going would buy the driver their gp tickets?????? However big this trip gets my mrs can sort it. Coach etc.
But as I said earlier, just make suggestions. Nothing will be booked until jan/feb.

Personally I'd ride to Assen see the races then ride back to Amsterdam, but if your going to go on a plane then get an hotel in (or near) Amsterdam, travel out to the track on the train ...?

Re: ASSEN MOTOGP 2010
Ok, I have knocked up the basics. I am going to do it for no more than £250 for everything except race tickets. If we have a night in Amsterdam on saturday the cost will be around £300 (but not much over). I am not going to exceed this budget so I hope that helps people. Although I need at least nine people to keep the transfer costs down. The minibuses are 9 seaters.
That will be flying out of Manchester on Klm scheduled. Thursday at 18:25 and returning Sunday at 2pm(gmt). Other flight times are available but these suited me the best!!!!. Also Exec lounge at the airport. I can offer parking at mine so it will include a taxi/minibus to the airport or we can meet there.
It will also include transfers to and from Assen. If I end up as the driver though I expect to be bought several beers!!!!!If there is a volunteer driver then we can either have a whip round or buy their race ticket.
Then camping in Assen. I could have sorted a Hotel but camping HAS to be experienced at Assen.
As for the saturday after the race that is up to people to decide. Either another night in Assen or head back to Amsterdam for a nice hotel stay.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers

EVIL- Riding or trains are not really an option. Too much hassle and cost. My way keeps it cheap plus staying in Assen is awesome.

Bridgey, all true! As an dutchy I have been to TT Assen several times during the MotoGP. The ride on Saturday race day from my home to Assen (for me +/- 200KM distance) is one big happening, very exciting with already thousands of bikers and even more with the people lined up next to the roads. After the race it "feels" like you have won the race yourselfbridgey wrote:... Allen.

And of course, with the sounds of an V4 engined RVF does makes lots of head turners.

I have seen loads of people riding on their own bikes with plates from UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain and even all the way from Portugal! It is a great road trip...and a very nice TT experience when you decide to come and ride by bike.Evilchicken0 wrote:Personally I'd ride to Assen see the races then ride back to Amsterdam, but if your going to go on a plane then get an hotel in (or near) Amsterdam, travel out to the track on the train ...?
For those enthusiastics who want to ride on their bikes and get the train/boat via Dover-Calais or to -Duinkerken, I can meet you up, get some food and drinks and ride together to TT Assen.
