Runs like a sack of hammers
Hi,
I have a nc 23 J which I have bought as a "project" track bike.
I have just got it back to-gether and here`s my problem.
It would only run on 3 pots, number 2 being the duff`un.
It had a good spark so I stripped the carb hoping to find it full of gunge!
In fact the carb was really clean inside but the pilot jet was blocked?
I cleared the jet and reassembled the carb, and off she went on 4 cylinders again.
But.......... I wont rev above about 6 k??
Now I don`t have an airfilter fitted at the moment (long story) do you think this is the problem?
Yes I know it not a good idea to run it without the filter
Thanks
JK

Re: Runs like a sack of hammers
lol - put a filter on it. it may just be too lean to rev above 6k
or, do you have a speedo connected?

It should rev above 6k without a filter, bikes run faster with a weaker miture.
Compression test it

If there the same as NC30/35's then as CMSMJ1 said if the speedo is not connected it wont rev above a certain rpm

Re: Runs like a sack of hammers
Did the compression test today, 3 @ 110 PSI and 1 @ 105.
Improvised an airfilter and let it warm up thoroughly, now runs fine.
Thanks
