when I bought my battery recently it said...

"Please note - The 'Y', 'C' or 'G' denotes the motorcycle battery manufacturer & can be substituted for another letter depending on the make of battery, for example: YTX9-BS, CTX9-BS, GTX9-BS are all the same battery."

As the Pie-Man says, it;s the number that's the important bit. The number denoted the size/height of the battery as I went for a YTX-9BS for my bike as it was 10mm taller than the standard '7' but the other dimensions were the same.

If your ever in doubt have a look at the following site.

http://www.tayna.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They sell pretty much anything! With a handy serch too.. plus they Give you the specs of all the batterys including dimensions!

The A/B at the end denotes position of the battery terminals I believe as I brought a B one instead of an A and the terminals were reversed.

Their fitment wizard recommends Varta LF 506 015 (YTX7A-BS) £30.98 :)
