Speedo Problems

Post by matt_nc30 » Sun Oct 18, 2009 7:32 pm

The needle on the speedo stops moving after around 115mph, but the revs still go around.
The rev counter will read 13k in 6th gear, but still only read 115mph.
Isnt it roughly 10mph per 1000 rpm? so it should be nearer 130mph?

any one know what could be wrong?

thanks matt

It could be that the plastic speedo cable adapter bush is slightly rounded.

Check it out by removing the speedo cable bracket (2 bolts) on the LH side of the engine.

The nylon bush wears quite easily.
