A 8 mm spanners was fine on all the bikes i have done over the years (but then again none of them had brembo calipers, so someone else can check this for you). As for bleeding the brakes, its good to have 2 people, 1 at the lever and 1 at the caliper and make sure you never get air into the system, so keep topping the brake reservoir up until enough brake fluid has pass the system (so the new stuff displays the old stuff). This is so that you dont waste huge amounts of new brake fluid trying to get the air bubbles out of the system.
Hope that helps

Get yourself a 5ml syringe from Superdrug/Boots and put a piece of rubber pipe onto the end and attach the other onto bleed nipple.
Open bleed nipple with 8mm spanner and drawn air out with syringe.
With syringe still full, of mostly air but some fluid, close nipple and then push syringe back down to bottom.
Keep doing that until your'r getting lots of fluid out. Then lose the syringe and stick the loose end of rubber pipe into some old fluid and bleed as per Haynes, ie pump lever with nipple closed, open it and watch bubbles come out into your old fluid.
Simples.
