really need some good advice of some one who has a clue !!!
hiya all, really need some help here!
just had 95 rvf serviced by a very good mechanic,i say service but gave him the bike as it was mis firing through low revs up to top end.new plugs fitted and replaced fuel hoses as the old ones were perished.
now this misfire was intermitant before i gave him the bike but got worse over a few days of short rides.
got the bike back yesterday and rode it 25 miles home(long route!!)bike ran sweet as a nut pulling well through all gears and rev ranges.
making the most of sunshine whent out this evening and after 10-15 miles slight misfire..15-30 miles running ok again30-50 miles running like a bag of shit again.
please any ideas on this would be a great help as i want to get it sorted before the indian summer ends!!!
not the greatest technical fella on earth! could it be electrical??regulator thingy?cdi thing?carbs?help help!!
its doing my head in and feel like taking a size 9 to it!!

Drop a volt meter across the battery terminals. It should be 12 or better when sitting. Voltage should not drop below 10.5 or 11 when starting and should rise to 13.8 to14 or so when charging.
If it rolls slowly and the lites dim when you let off the throttle then the battery is flat.
If you get no voltage rise as you rev the bike then you have a dead generator or regulator. If you get more than 14.5 then your regulator is not working correctly and will over charge the battery.

Mate, good pointers from the fellas above on your battery being stuffed.
If it is, you might need to look into the cause! Bad battery can be a symptom of a dodgy charging system, until you know this it could be a waste of money replacing a bad battery, your electrics will fry the new one!
Do the voltage checks suggested above and it will tell you!

You may have a short in the wiring harness somewhere. It do a through inspection of the harness next.
