Various Bits of help needed... Now with pics!
I've just fitted a replacement loom to my wife's suffering NC30 and to make things easy took the carbs off, so a couple of questions relating to these bits -
1) the reg/rec connections on the new loom has 2 block connections rather than the one connection on the old loom, which means I can't get it working at the mo, any ideas what reg/rec this may be? (i'll get some pictures up tomorrow evening, but in the meantime...)
2) I need a couple of bits for the carbs, I need the 4 rubber cone shaped things, what do I ask for here... (carb rubbers?)
3) there are 2 hoses that attach to the airbox? (I may be confused here), but they attach to the carbs in a 'T' junction, there's a small rubber ring on each side that attaches these pipes to the carbs and they've seen better days - what do I ask for here.
I'm sure there's more, but i'll take it a step at a time if i've been stupid I apologize but i'll admit i'm swimming in the deep end and want to learn. If you chaps need pictures of the areas - i'll get em asap, but just in case you know what I mean, fire away!
Thanks again people
Matt

Re: Various Bits of help needed...
Matt,
1) if the reg/rec wiring has 2 connectors then its not standard. Chances are it's had a suzuki or similar reg/reg wired in which use different plugs. You should be able to easily change it back to original by looking at a wiring diagram. Knowing the colours of the wires will help a great deal here. Not difficult to adapt a honda or other reg/rec back onto it.
2) Yes commonly called carb rubbers. Buying used ones can be a recipe for disaster, the carbs will fit into new ones much more easily. I've used chinese copies from ebay without any dramas if you're budget doesn't run to original ones.
3) These should just be a push fit. Not sure exactly what you mean here, a pic might help.
Hardly stupid questions mate, you won't know if you never ask!

Re: Various Bits of help needed...
Thanks Stickshift (do you have a thread regarding a R6 reg/rec?) I would rather find the right part, than changing the wires so i'll hold off that idea for now as that'll make the deep end even deeper - lol, Funnily enough I was looking at those last night - cheers.banoffee wrote:you might find this useful... http://www.akhara.com/nc30/nc30parts/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Right then I got the pictures, i'll start with the regulator / rectifier - could it be a cbr 600rr one? would rather find the right reg/rec than change the wiring.

Now the Carb bits, these seem to be little rubber rings - thinking I might just use rubber hosing cut to the right size? (little round rings are what i'm after)

Thanks chaps all the help on the reg/rec would be much appreciated.

Those two tubes onto the sub air filter are not right... I haven't ran a box lid for ages or plugged them in but they are not right....

Yep - hang on a tick til someone takes a pic of the aribox for you.
My memory says that there are two small tubes out the carbs into that small double jobby on the airbox. (sub air filter)
What state are your carbs in? Are they in pieces??
Those pipes could be right but I've not seen them not attached to the carb body any more..

They're off the bike but still intact, they are really dirty (really really dirty as in black), hope to start the cleaning one evening this week. hoping that this will help with the running problems..
The little rubber clips that attach these hoses to the carbs are broken, which is the reason why at the airbox end. (more keeping all the bits together than anything else, I have 2 kids and they have a habit of touching everything their not supposed too).

It could be a Suzuki, Kawasaki or any other 2 plug arrangement reg/rec.mattjc wrote:I would rather find the right part, than changing the wires so i'll hold off that idea for now as that'll make the deep end even deeper
It would be easier in my opinion to chop off those connectors, buy a yamaha unit and just solder some standard spade plugs onto each of those wires. The honda units take a few standard sized spade plugs, and 2 jumbo size (5.6mm?).
Either option is very simple.

in order to get those T junction pieces to come out the carbs need to be in pieces. i had a horrendous time getting them to stay in place while i put the carb back together, all i know is that the bike doenst run right if these pipes are not right. i'll see if i can find a pic too
