Just ordered one as thought it about time I buy another toy for the bike. What are thoughts on the UK (less emissions/noise dip) vs HRC (vs any other?) ignition maps on my bike?

Bike is 89 model, stock apart from end can, jetting, earthing kit and +2 rear sprocket

I had mine tested back to back with the std CDI and it developed less power using it.

RVF carbs, twin stack pipes etc etc...

Good fun to fiddle but I think you need higher compression to take full advantage of advancing the ignition...

I would be very surprised if the standard UK model and the Jap model ignition maps were different!

If they are (doubtful!!!), I want the one that performs better!!

thank you!

as for UK vs Jap, I would have thought that the major (only?) difference was the lack of top speed restriction? am going to try this one first as Rick states that it has the 'dip' removed...

but yes it's something to fiddle with

The UK std CDI won't have a restriction and the ignitech won't either so that is not a problem.

The "UK"map is nothing to do with the restriction.

Have a look at the graphs available - it kind of makes sense!

I might go and fiddle with mine some more..If you want some maps to try, drop me a note.

ah makes sense. am more interested in the 'lack of dip' if that makes sense.

thanks for your input, appreciated

I run the Ignitec HRC program on my everyday bike.

I felt it was like night and day - but that wasnt really a fair judgement as I had been on a 125 then on a CB500 taking my test....

I let my 1000cc convert friend have a go and he said (from having ridden a stock J-spec) it definitely felt meatier lower down and the last bike he rode felt like he was riding a 2 stroke.

If the 17th August at Cadwell was anything to go by the Red and Black '30 I blatted past didnt even try and put up a fight... could have been a million reasons why :)
