Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
Hi im shopping for a good front brake setup for my race bike and am gona get cbr/sp calipers like my road bike as I love them (and have a free set or race pads for them)
on the road bike iv got a cbr600rr 03 mastercylinder and it works well but was wondering what other master cylinders people have used with these calipers and recomend? also I fancy one with a external res (not one moulded in) as their a fair bit lighter
I know smev has a mille radial one but their all too expencive for me at the mo as much as Id love it
Cheers

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
I bought mine of Graeme France and he suggested and supplied an nc35 master cylinder I believe it is, does the job on my racebike, my only issue was that for some reason the lever was pushing in the master cylinder constantly, only slightly but enough that they heated up and bound on, not initially though, was the 4th race since fitting them that it happened (in the wet, at snetterton, at the esses, down we go :p)
But other than the slight hiccup, which I will make sure I never get again by actually inspecting it, no matter what lever/master cylinder I'm running, it's a good setup :)

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
mate its probably too much fluid in the res, as it expands it will cause that if its overfull
are nc30 masters the same as 35 ones? and I was told they arnt big enough bore for the cbr calipers and make them feel squidgy, is that true?
I got my eye on an r1 non radial jobbie at the moment which I recon would be man enough for the job does anyone agree?

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
Nah, it was definately the lever, filed it down at the next round at oulton and since done cadwell as well with no problems :)
The casing definately isn't the same as there's no mount for the res (adapted the bracket and mounted it on the top yoke), not sure about the internals, they're not squidgy though. Initially it was a bit weird as there was more movement before applying the brakes, but definately not squidgy and for my limited talent it seems very good :)
R1 m/c might be a touch better though :p
If you've not got anything sorted before the bemsee thruxton meet (think I saw elsewhere you were planning on going there?) I'll be there and you can come have a look at the rvf one if you want, but guessing you'll have it sorted by then...

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
I run a 16mm radial brembo off a 2005 R1 with my SP1 calipers and they work together superbly. Plenty of power and really progressive. Saved me from killing a daft twat on a bicycle recently who thought it was clever to cross a bypass from behind a bridge pillar, missed the fool by inches. The only mods needed are a hel radial adaptor for £10 and a piece of metal to make the bracket for the reservoir.

Should be there, not put my entry in yet but it's filled out and ready, I just forgot to bring it with me when I left for work today :p
What are you waiting on bemsee for? might be worth ringing Tracey, although they're is a brands round sometimes soon so she might be a bit busy with that so putting off the thruxton stuff for a while...

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
If it's just race entries then they won't be sent out till ~2 weeks before the race, so I'd expect them sometime in the week starting the 5th...
Are you planning to do Lydden as well? Not looking forward to Thruxton, I'm not very quick, and the bike seems to lack straight line speed so a very fast circuit like Thruxton I can't see being the best thing ever, still I won't know till I get there, but looking forward to Lydden, reckon that could be really good fun :)

Re: Good mastercylinder for cbr/sp calipers?
yeh doing both, I did thruxton with ng this year and its a fun track but my bike is well down on power
fastest time was a 1.40 which I was well happy with at the time (first ever race, improved 6 seconds over fastest in practise and on a slow pritty stock bike and wrong gearing) but on my new bike and knowing the track a bit im hoping for a 1.38 at least, unless its wet that is (never ridden on wets)
