chain and sprocket ratios

Post by bikerbiffo »

hi
could anyone tell me the standard gear ratios for a 1993 400sf
just removed old ones and i've got 15tooth front 42tooth rear.

the sprockets i've been given are 15f and 45rear..the chain supplied is long enough for this change of ratio

just want to no the standard ratio

the bikes restricted so a boost in set off will be nice but not sure how much top end it'll loose

still does 90mph restricted to 33bhp

thanks in advance

If I'm not mistaking, 15-41 is the original ratio.

Sounds like you've been given the Version R/S setup.

Standard sprockets and chain links for the regular Superfour are 15/42 110 and for the Version R/S it's 15/45 112. Hope this answers your question.

thanks for the replies

the set i was given was 15/45 114
had to take some links out..
the extra acceleration is handy around town
top tip for fitting the o ring chain
either use some big mold grips and a nut to compress link or a large g clamp and nut
then just peen rivet over .get some one to support opposite side of the chain with a sledgehammer..

cheers
