Tyres?

Post by dickyholdsworth »

Hello i'm new here i have just purchased an FZR400 RRSP track/race bike having raced sidecars for many years i have now come in from the cold and decided to give two wheels a go, so i need help.
The bike has been raced recently but i'm a bit confused with the tyres. It is fitted with a Pirelli super corsa 110/70 ZX17 on the front which seems fine but is this the best make and size of tyre for racing this bike in the F400 class.
The rear is fitted with a Bridgestone 155/635 R18 it looks to me like a racing slick that has had some cuts added to it?
Again what's the best tyre to use for the F400 class in place of this tyre?
Also while i'm at it what dry tyre pressures would you recommend?
Cheers in advance ;)

An RR SP ... will have the frame number starting 3TJ ... Probably 3TJ02 ... and should have 17" wheels front and back.

Your's could be a FZR400R SP and have a frame number starting 2TK which would be a 17" front / 18" rear

The frame number is: 1WG-036139

I didn't know it should have 17" rear so something is a miss then :(

Done some more research and this frame number should mean my bike is a 400RSP?

Is this right and if so is the standard rear wheel on this model 18"?

the dunlop alpha 10s are supposed to be pretty good! the 1wg i have has a 110 rim but runs a 120 tyre which is pretty common as the pirelli doesnt come 110 size, but i have a 17 inch wheel from a 3tj which takes the rear pirelli

My 2TK is running a 110 front tyre, as was my previous 2tk 7 years ago. I was told that was the correct fitment for a 3 inch rim.
I've just managed to pick up a brand new pair of GPR70's (forerunner to the alpha 10's) off ebay for £75 posted. Bargain of the year.
