How do I change the front brake lever?

Post by superhans »

Hello, I need to change my brake lever because, I'm an idiot, who dropped my superfour taking it off the centre stand. That terrible realisation that I'd lost balance and my beloved bike was going to hit the deck, and I could only hold on and pull with all my might to lessen the blow! Was heartbreaking. Now the lever is bent, rather curvaciously actually, but not ideal.
Anyone know how to change it? I hear it's simple, but I wouldn't want to just give it a go without advice.

This is the way Id do it - slacken off the cable adjustment at the lever. Undo the nut underneath the perch, (the part that the lever is fastened to), then undo the bolt to remove the lever. Once the lever is free, remove it from the end of the cable. For the new one - put the nipple of the cable in the lever then slot the lever into the perch and replace the bolt. Don't overtighten the bolt just pinch it up then replace the nut and tighten up.Once the lever is in pklace, adjust the cable so that you have about 1mm free play.
