Re: nc29 shock length
silver, the problems you will encounter with a 600 shock,
- yep its 310mm and old one is 290mm
- increased angle will mean removing the coolant bottle as new one hits it and you cant get enough clearance to fit lower eye of shock into place.
- you need to dremal grind out the link to even make it fit (and be able to move adjust)
- check the eye bolt size as i had to have bushings made up to bulk it out to male tight (10mm out to 12mm if i recall)
- the big one is the increased angle of swingarm will drop your chain down, you ll have to lose some fairing.
- balancing your wheel is tricky as chain is very loose and until weighted you cannot tell if you have 1 inch play
- as above the increased angle will drop chain angle down onto the swingarm gaurd (small plastic runner/slide above left heel guard) and wear it faster and also shin up one side of your chain.
- dependant on what shock you have you also may have to grind off some of the top eye to make it fit into the gap
i have put a 02 600rr shock in my bike but from all the above drama im looking at taking out..............?

Re: nc29 shock length
i have the exact same shock on both my bikes fits straight in only mod needed is to dremel a small amount out of the dog leg for the ajustment screw works brilliantly and a massive improvment over the stock shock

Re: nc29 shock length
Yeah, I've got the same shock, which works nicely with my weight, but I want to bring the back end back down to where it ought to be. Still, it's probably the way to go for a cheap racing mod.

Hi..
i'm a bit curious...i just replace my stock rear shock with a 600 shock (don't know which model).
a quick search on this site, mostly said that changing to 600 shock will raise the rear end a bit and different lean angle when parked. but, why it isn't happen to me ?

I think the CBR600 shock you need is the FS,not sure but that was what I was told was on my bike when I bought it.

Re: nc29 shock length
Hi, I run both WP (dry) and Ohlins (wet) rear shocks and I have them both set to 305mm. puts more weight on the front, but it suits me and both bikes handle very well.
