Dingos Track VFR NC30

To be clear about this I've been building this bike for 6 months now its been assembled and disassembled more times than I care to remember, finally now I think I've got the right collection of parts to make it happen how I want it to go, once its together aside from building a motor, I don't wish to be messing about with it, so its a do it once do it right jobby, its took about 5 NC30's coming and going, and loads of interwebbing to get things to where they are, so I guess what I need now is a kick up the arse to get it together tested and go play !








The original plan was to build this for a few hundred quid ! its not exactly within budget at the moment unless the conversation regarding cost is being held with my better half, in which case all the parts really were cheap

House to myself this week so I get something done on my list !

Will post up some more pics as I go along, please if anyone spots anything untoward let me know building this a bit blind at the moment as I have only rebuilt NC30's to standard spec nothing else !

Clearer photo of rear suspension / brake line routing



Still only one fork built up due to a nick in the oil seal on the second ! was last nites job to get it back together with new seals but lost hours cleaning the Donnington mud / mess from T's bike so got bugger all done on the NC30

Finally have some time and things are moving along slowly, so thought I'd best take some snaps, also I have a few questions which perhaps can be answered ?

Tyga system now fitted to my satisfaction, much stud drilling, messing and general faffing but worth the effort, still not sure if its going to clear the catch tray at the back of the bellypan ? oh well wait till bodywork comes back and see eh ? The end can has been re sleeved / re packed and a DB killer made (just in case!)




Rear RVF/VFR Subframe and additional (Mk1) Shock Res Bracket, needs improving but again awaiting tail unit coming back for final position, also need to get hold of some sort of battery box and plate to mount ignition etc.



Filler cap replaced (after much lock drilling !) DHM filler was in bargain box at local Honda dealer £15 as opposed to thirty odd, ps beware of Chinese/ebay special quick release fillers, my friends cam and wouldn't seal unfortunately you couldn't tell until it had lifted the paint !



Customary speedo drive removal and sprocket cover reshaping completed



New Disc/Line/Pads/Rebuilt Caliper New Seals etc



Eccentric ride height adjuster nearly visable in this pic, along with bottom of shock probably the worst place in the world on a VFR for high speed damping adjustment to be made !!!



Front End now with 2 forks and a wheel !!! Rebuilt standard calipers, sintered pads, plastic covers removed (binned) braided lines. Not sure which way to go with upgrading/ sorting the forks, has anyone tried the different makes of aftermarket progressive springs, theres also Rick's conversion, I'm not particularly heavy so may just see what happens on rebuilt stock kit?




Finally in the background of one of the snaps there's a little plug in oil filled radiator, its 12 months old and thermostatically controlled in new condition, if anyone wants it to keep winter out their garage and off their pride and joy its free to a good home !

Good to see you have the bore & stroke written on the engine cover, never know when you'll need it!

I've got a cheap chinese fuel filler cap off ebay, no dramas but I needed to drill a breather hole in it, looks like yours doesn't have one either (the std cap can breath through the drilled hole in the filler mount).

Re Fillers:

The chinese one on my friends bike was leaking fuel through the rubber seal against the tank underneath the actual filler itself (does that make sense?) his is a streetfightered gixxer all airbrushed and it lifted the paint starting underneath the filler and worked outwards but it couldn't be seen until it bubled it round the edge of the fller, we replaced the seal with one for some soil pipe ! works fine now.

Re Breathers:

Doesn't the tank breath through the sticky up thing at the front RHS of the tank ? if not what am I drilling holes in pls explain !

We always used to get pulled on the 2 stroke 125's if it wasn' written on there , its a bit of a joke really casue they were never the bore we stated as they blew every other meeting but it kept the scruitineers happy !

Me thinks the engine casing needs painting anyhow !
