Race loom diagram - final diagram

Post by greggo »

Righto,

This is the race loom i've cooked up based on an even simpler one someone else gave me, i've added in the tacho, neutral, oil switch, and the charging circuit.

I'm going to start making this up next week or weekend, if anyone sees anything wrong please let me know.

Looks good mate.

Is that a relay or fusebox with the 30 amp fuse in?

Thats the starter solenoid.

Probably the one bit I'm not %100 sure of in the wiring...

Lloydie - took that wiring for the tacho directly from the Haynes - so it should be right.

Stimpy, that'll be a yes, i'll try and remember to put it up tonight. It's only a couple of minor differences at the ECU end that I can work out. As for the TPS, I'm leaving it on, even though the flatslides don't have one i'm leaving it on so I have the option of going back to CV's.

Problems...

The fuel pump runs as soon as switched on (no big deal I don't think as it will only be on when running).

But with the fuel pump running the starter won't turn. Unplug the pump, starter turns.

This is based on yeurmans wiring loom posted in another thread which he runs on two of his bikes. So I unplugged/took away the bits I added (tacho, charging circuit) to be sure it wasn't something I have done. Still have the same problem.

Any ideas? Or do I just give in and put in the fuel cut off relay?

Tried the fuel pump cutoff relay - no worky - wired in the same way as on the original loom.

It's got my stumped. I found if I earth the coil wires from the CDI to coils the starter turns. Also with the ignition in the off position the starter turns when you press the button. Turn the ignition on, the fuel pump turns, no starter.

I transfered the tacho power (green line) across to the red line that powers everything else, as wired the other way it powered the neutral light regardless of the off/run switch position.

Anyone got any ideas?

I've no idea what to try now.

Out of sheer desperation I went back to the standard loom image, deleted all the stuff I don't need, and set the bike up like this:

Still no joy. Not sure what should happen to the green red and green white wires?

Ended up with this.

Engine turns, fuel pump pumps, and I get spark. Only now the tacho and indicator lights don't work. Well, they occaisionally turn on, and give the dimmest of glows, and not sure why.

I've played with all the connectors, none make any difference, and all the wires are new so no discontinuity. Not sure what to power them off. Maybe the black/white wire from the ignition? Or is something else wrong. All the new wires are .5 or less, so similar to what came out of the old loom.
