Re: Total Iginition Loss?????????
I removed the flywheel and stator from my nc30 race bike and it made a big difference. Spins up alot faster, both off the start line, and it picks up alot harder out of corners. Like I said, all I did was pull the left cover off, undo the (flywheel) bolt, and whop the whole assembly off. Only thing I have to do now is put the battery on a charger when its in the garages between races. I was aprehsensive about getting rid of the whole flywheel, but it only gave me positives!crofty7 wrote:Cheers tanuki. I think i will leave well alone.
Its a bloody good mod, because you gain some hp back from the stator not having to charge the battery, plus there is less rotational mass for the engine to spin up, plus its a couple of kgs off the total weight of the bike, so for the money ($0) its probably the best mod you could do.
May re-change your mind

Re: Total Iginition Loss?????????
Is it a very big job actually doing it? Iv got two race meetings in october and will be entering in the f400 class so can run total loss and was wondering if it would be worth doing then putting back as I use the bike as a road bike mid week (id keep it off the road between the 2 meetings tho ofcourse)

Spike16 - If you do this mod will you take photos and let us know how you get on cos i'm really tempted to do it myself if it helps. Mine is purely a track bike.

Re: Total Iginition Loss?????????
Guys, i did mine at weekend and it took me all of an hour max to do from start to finish!!
Tools: ratchet, 10mm sockett, 20mm fine thread bolt(removal tool, see Rick O), gasket sealer.
Disconect the reg/rec from bat,
Remove stator cover (left side casing),
Remove 10mm bolts from fly wheel (think there are 4),
screw the 20mm bolt into the flywheel centre which pulls the flywheel from the stator and remove it,
Pull out the stator,
Remove the rubber bungs from the top of the casing and pull the wires out,
Smeer bungs with gasket sealer or silicone where the wires previosly were,
smeer gasket sealer round the casing and bolt back the casing cover.
Job done...
